Friendly reminder: Traci Park is a Republican, and she's bringing Trump's MAGA agenda to LA2/2/2025 As Donald Trump enters his second term and plunges the country into chaos, it’s more important than ever for Angelenos to remember that Los Angeles City Councilmember Traci Park is not a real Democrat—she’s a Republican, through and through.
The voting records don’t lie. Every available piece of evidence shows that Traci Park was a registered Republican for years. If she calls herself a Democrat now, it’s only because she knew she couldn’t win in a progressive city like LA otherwise. But make no mistake: her actions, policies, and alliances prove that she is pushing a MAGA-style agenda in our city. While Trump and his extremist allies are gutting democracy, attacking marginalized communities, and running the country into the ground, Traci Park is governing like a local extension of his administration. Park’s Right-Wing Agenda: Trumpism at the Local Level Traci Park is using the same Republican playbook that MAGA politicians use nationwide—criminalizing homelessness, siding with police unions over the public, and blocking affordable housing while protecting the wealthy. And Park’s right-wing agenda isn’t just about ideology—it’s about who funds her and who she answers to. She doesn’t govern for working people, renters, or the unhoused. Instead, she serves the real estate industry and the police lobby, two powerful forces that fund her campaigns and dictate her policies. On homelessness: Park’s approach mirrors Trump’s—treating unhoused people like criminals instead of addressing the root causes of the crisis. She has made aggressive encampment sweeps her only policy, pushing people out of Venice (where she lives) and into other neighborhoods like Westchester, without offering real housing solutions. Instead of working to build affordable housing, she actively fights against it, as seen in her opposition to the Venice Dell project—one of the few proposals that would have provided permanent homes for the unhoused. On policing: Just like Trump, Park leans on brute force over real solutions. Police unions gave her over a million dollars in campaign contributions, and in return, she’s handed them free rein over homelessness policy—ensuring that LA’s response is focused on arrests and displacement rather than services and stability. On governance: Park aligns herself with right-wing fear-mongering and anti-progressive policies, pushing for criminalization instead of community investment and siding with business and real estate interests over everyday residents. A Trump Ally in Local Government If there were any doubt about where Traci Park’s loyalties lie, just look at how she welcomed Trump with open arms when he visited LA after the fires. Instead of using the opportunity to stand up to his disastrous leadership, she embraced the moment and proved that she’s more willing than ever to govern in his image. While Trump’s administration tramples on democracy, Park is bringing his authoritarian approach to LA’s streets. She may not be wearing a MAGA hat, but her policies are straight out of the Trump playbook. Los Angeles Deserves a Real Progressive—Not a MAGA Republican in Disguise Traci Park can slap the word “Democrat” next to her name all she wants, but voters shouldn’t be fooled. She is a Republican at heart, governing with a right-wing agenda, and making Los Angeles less progressive, less equitable, and less livable for working people. With Trump wreaking havoc on the country, the last thing we need is someone like Park pushing his brand of politics in our city. We need real Democrats fighting for affordable housing, public safety beyond policing, and a humane approach to homelessness—not a Republican operative masquerading as a moderate.
